022 Pump impeller modeling

In this tutorial a pump enclosed-type impeller is modeled - in CATIA - using part module and assembled using the assembly module. The impeller has two main parts among which lies the blades.


The impeller is modeled in CATIA through the following steps:

  1. The base plate of the fins is created using the revolve tool.
  2. The First blade of the impeller is created on the plate as a reference plane.
  3. The first blade is repeated 5 times radially in a full crown using the pattern tool.
  4. The cutting profile is created which hereafter will be revolved using the groove tool to make the final cut in the blades.
  5. The driving axle is created upon the base plate using the pad tool.
  6. The Second part is created by copying the cutting profile created earlier in step 4.
  7. Finally, the second part is assembled using coaxial constraint in the assembly module.
